Term Time Holiday Destinations
Did you fail to get away this summer? Was you busy with work or just plain skint? Well worry not because in truth Summer Season only means crowded beaches and inflated prices. Now that the schools are starting again though, prices will quickly plummet, crowds will thin out and the unbearable heat will subside into a pleasant climate of warm days and pleasant evenings. There are loads of great term time holiday destinations.
This really is the best possible time to grab yourself a back to school holiday deal and find yourself the best cheap package holidays abroad!
Here are some great destinations where you can bag yourself a late getaway!
San Antonio Bay – Ibiza
The legendary, hedonistic party season is drawing to a close with only the after hours revellers remaining. This means that some level of peace and tranquility is returning to the island best experienced at San Antonio bay which is ideally situated between the quieter, more traditional side of the island and the club-tastic San Antonio City.
Now that the party is over this is the perfect time to explore Ibiza’s culture and history with day easy trips to Ibiza Town and the roman ruins at Santa Eulalia. Those perfect Ibiza sunsets will also seem all the more poignant now that you can have them more or less all to yourself and there are still ways for the frugal travellers make the island that bit more affordable!
Lake Garda – Italy
Whilst Italy is never going to be a “cheap” destination the low season does still open the country up for some serious savings especially around Lake Garda where September accommodation prices can reduce by as much as 25% from August!
There are plenty of resorts and towns you can base yourself in such as Riva del Garda, Malescine and at the far South of the Lake, the ever popular Desenzano del Garda where you can rub shoulders with holidaying Italians and also try some of the country’s best ice cream.
For those seeking activities, Milan and Venice are both visitable by (long) day trips. there are plenty of hikes to choose from and even the Gardaland theme park for those seeking some adrenaline.
Lisbon Coast – Portugal
Not as popular as Madeira or the Algarve, Portugal’s Lisbon Coast is consequently much cheaper, quieter and in our opinion (whisper it!) even better!
The coast town of Estoril is sunny, peaceful and the perfect place to just relax and prepare yourself to Autumn. There are no fewer than 6 Golf Courses, 3 stunning beaches and plenty of sea fishing opportunities.
The City of Lisbon is also not to be missed boasting history, architecture, culture and a thriving, hip nightlife. Portugal is currently one of the cheapest countries in the Eurozone and in own opinion something of a hidden gem that can’t stay hidden forever!
Zante – Greece
During the summer months, the Ioanian Island Zante is something of an 18 – 30’s mecca. However, now is the perfect time to explore the peaceful side of Zante best experienced at the resorts of Kalamaki and Alikanas, the latter of which is perfectly located for exploring the island’s lush, green countryside.
Families are also well catered for at Tsilivi which has a clean and safe beach ideal for inexperienced swimmers and a waterpark providing fun for all the family.
Split – Croatia
Since emerging from the spectre of the USSR and the Balkan conflict Croatia has rose to prominence as a travel destination that really does offer something for everyone. The country remains very cheap with high quality beer from as little as €1 per half litre!
Squatting serenely in the countries Dalmatian coast Split combines Roman ruins, medieval monasteries and pretty beaches for those seeking some relaxation. The city has a thriving cultural scene, cool nightlife and great shopping options.
